A special “Thank You” to Flo Spragg who organized the event and to Sandy Marshall who was our hostess AND to all who donated & shopped. It's Time for SWCJAX to "Pack the SUV" for Greenfield Elementary School • 11/20/24

At our NOVEMBER Meeting we will “Pack the SUV” for Greenfield Elementary School a small, underserved ESL school in the heart of Southside. Over the years, our Club has been able to provide various things to help change the lives of these children and their families, from eye exams and glasses to science field trips on the St. Johns to celebrating the graduating 5th graders with a pizza party. During these hard times, it is so important to show this Greenfield community support by contributing in the following ways: giving school supplies, non-perishable food items, children/youth school uniform clothes, children/youth sized-underwear (because accidents happen), new socks, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, personal hygiene products, and grocery stores gift cards.

Join Us for Our Next Club Meeting Wednesday, November 20, 2024 @ 10am @ Deerwood Country Club!!!

Congratulations to US!!! Special THANKS to Lauralyn & Cheryl for making the trip to Camp Boggy Creek to install our Group Project: Wind Chimes!

The GFWC Southside Woman's Club contributed Wind Chimes to Camp Boggy Creek, the previous GWC Florida President's project. Recognized at district and state levels, these chimes were hung at the camp in June, bringing joy and peace. It's been an honor to support this meaningful cause for children.

A Great Time Celebrating SWCJAX's 110th Birthday!

We "Packed the SUV" full of food, school supplies and grocery gift cards, for Greenfield Elementary School (an ESL School on the southside of Jacksonville) in preparation for needy students and faculty during the long holidays ahead. We enjoyed great fellowship, food & fun as we enjoyed learning about GFWC's interesting past, as a well as, hearing from our Members, Tricia W. and Julie B., who have served with GFWC many dedicated years. Also, a special "Thank Yous" to our District 4 Director, Elizabeth Van-Rensburg, and our other special guests for attending our celebration. GFWC Southside Woman’s Club of Jacksonville Really Gives!

Way to Give, Ladies!!! This month we collected "Books for the Brave," as part of the GFWC FL President's Day of Giving. We were also able to give Greenfield Elementary School 12 vouchers for free eye exams and glasses for needy students, through our corporate partner, America's Best. And for our furry friends...we collected rugs, towels & empty Medicine Bottles for FOJA.

GFWC FL Southside Woman’s Club of Jacksonville Club Members LOVE partnering with up and coming organizations like R.E.S.T.O.R.E., who's primary function is to integrate women back into society, once their debt to society has been filled.

Envision The Future!!

Our “Envision The Future" project (for children who can't afford an actual eye exam or glasses) is well under way at Greenfield Elementary School! After it has been determined WHO needs glasses, our corporate sponsor, America's Best, is ensuring that every needy child recieves a voucher for the exam and glasses they need.

What fun we had delivering the "Corky Angels" to an assisted living facility in our area...it brought joy to residences and workers alike!!!

Keep us, O God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.

Let us be done with fault finding and leave off self-seeking.

May we put away all pretenses and meet each other face to face- without self-pity and without prejudice.

May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.

Let us take time for all things; make us grow calm, serene, and gentle.

Grant that we may realize that it is the little things that create differences; that in the big things of life we are at one.

And may we strive to touch and to know the great common human heart of us all.

And, O Lord God, let us forget not, to be kind.

The first and foremost goal of our non-profit organization is to make a difference in as many people's lives as possible. We strive to improve the living conditions for those who need the help, who can't do it themselves.

Have you ever thought about how much you could change things just by volunteering?
